About the position

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for an Aviation Propulsion Systems Engineer to support the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) Future Vertical Lift (FVL) Division. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a propulsion subject matter expert working on the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) development program.
  • Provide qualification and airworthiness support to the FVL Airworthiness Division within the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) located on Redstone Arsenal.
  • Identify and verify Safety of Flight (SOF) technical requirements for the FLRAA ground and flight test program.
  • Provide technical expertise during meetings, briefings, working groups, and conference calls.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), track technical requirements, and support Airworthiness Release (AWR) development.
  • Provide technical review of contractor-delivered test plans, test reports, and safety documentation for fuels systems, hydraulic systems, landing gear, fire detection/suppression systems, and environmental controls systems, including Aircraft Hazard Analysis (AHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR).
  • Provide propulsion systems and technology expertise supporting FLRAA, including the engine development program.
  • Provide technical subsystem propulsion support for fuel systems, drive systems, hydraulic systems, landing gear, fire detection/suppression, and environmental control systems for FLRAA (SOF).
  • Provide systems engineering technical liaison expertise to the SRD Propulsion Division to resolve open action items and verify SOF requirements have been met for ground and first-flight testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering.
  • 10 years of experience with SRD Propulsion Airworthiness Requirements.
  • 10 years of experience with Rotary Aircraft.
  • 10 years of experience with the Systems Engineering Process.
  • 10 years of experience with aircraft risk and safety management.
  • Must be a US Citizen and have/able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. US travel only.

Nice-to-haves

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 20 years of experience with Propulsion Airworthiness Requirements.
  • 20 years of experience with Army Rotary-wing Aircraft.
