About the position

The Aviation Regulatory Counsel at Anduril Industries will focus on U.S. regulatory compliance related to aviation, particularly unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in both civil and defense environments. This role involves managing federal agency requirements, developing internal processes, and leading regulatory approval processes for innovative UAS technology. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with aviation regulations while supporting the deployment of cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities

  • Be a key member of Anduril's dynamic Legal Team working closely with company stakeholders to understand and apply federal aviation rules and regulations.
  • Provide daily support to test operations efforts; work cross-functionally to develop the best plan for timely and successful flight of our aircraft.
  • Strengthen regulatory approval efforts by coordinating activities across Anduril's test sites and in coordination with key internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain flight operations regulatory files and track communication and status with government regulators.
  • Drive efficient execution of cross-functional regulatory projects and support for product teams.
  • Manage relationships with Government regulatory agencies, developing and fostering high-trust professional relationships.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams.

Requirements

  • JD and 5+ years of industry experience implementing U.S. aviation rules and regulations.
  • Background in aviation, engineering or other related field with providing technical knowledge of unmanned and autonomous systems.
  • Knowledgeable about FAA regulations such as 14 CFR Part 107, 14 CFR Part 61, waivers, COAs, exemptions and/or other authorizations, quality control, compliance, safety, transportation, uncrewed aviation programs or a combination thereof.
  • Ability to develop and manage the preparation of technical documentation related to obtaining and managing these various authorizations for unmanned aircraft systems.
  • Experience reviewing procedures and process documentation to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Experience implementing DOD aviation procedures and records requirements such as DCMA 8210 Ground Operations Procedures.
  • Strong communication, technical writing and interpersonal skills. The judgment and initiative required to own multiple projects from end-to-end.
  • Experience working directly with the FAA, Department of Defense (DoD) or other federal, state or local agencies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) security clearances.

  • Experience working in a flight research or flight test environment (civil or military).
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense.
  • Engineering degree.
  • Licensed to practice law in CA or DC.
  • Active security clearance.
