About the position
The Aviation Simulation Systems Engineer 2 role at Garmin involves supporting the development and application of advanced avionics systems within the Aviation Systems team. The engineer will focus on providing system support for integrated flight deck programs and simulation environments, ensuring effective troubleshooting and improvements to simulation tools and data packages.
Responsibilities
- Develop improvements to data packages delivered to simulator companies
- Provide troubleshooting support to identify the system root cause within a simulated system environment
- Support troubleshooting of issues reported by simulation companies
- Identify improvements and modify tools for use in system simulation solutions
- Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
- Maintain tracking of simulator system integration issues and coordinate solutions across engineering teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another technical field
- Minimum of 1 year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0)
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge in Systems Integration, System Safety, or System Requirements
- Demonstrated problem solving ability
Nice-to-haves
- Master's Degree in an Engineering field
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Relevant experience in a high-level software programming language
- 5+ years of relevant experience performing a similar role
- Pilot's License
- Knowledge of Garmin's aviation product lines and customer needs
- Prior experience with simulator design or qualification
