About the position

The Aviation Systems Integration & Test Engineer at Garmin is responsible for performing hands-on testing of new aviation systems, products, and services. This role involves understanding customer expectations, creating test plans, developing procedures to validate user experience, troubleshooting integration issues, and communicating findings to engineering teams. The engineer will also work on defining system architectures and improving processes to enhance Garmin's image and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on system testing of new systems, products, and services
  • Understand and communicate customer expectations across aviation markets
  • Create system test plans in coordination with development schedules
  • Develop system test procedures to validate user experience and verify system requirements
  • Troubleshoot integration bench setup issues and investigate problems reported by customers
  • Clearly communicate issues observed during testing and recommend solutions to engineering teams
  • Define and maintain system architectures and requirements
  • Proactively improve processes, tools, and procedures
  • Exemplify Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values, and Quality Policy and proactively work to improve Garmin's image and culture

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another technical field
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0)
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge in Systems Integration, System Safety, System Requirements
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in an Engineering field
  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Demonstrated passion for and involvement in the aviation community
  • Operational knowledge of Garmin or competitive avionics
  • Previous work experience with consumer or aviation products
