About the position
The Avid Tutor (Junior School) position at Azle ISD involves supporting students in their academic journey under the supervision of the AVID Elective Teacher and Campus AVID Coordinator. The role focuses on conducting tutorial sessions, evaluating student progress, and assisting with college preparation skills, particularly in mathematics and writing.
Responsibilities
- Determine concepts that need to be taught or retaught from student notes and discussions.
- Evaluate student binders, including calendars and class notes.
- Familiarize with materials in the AVID Curriculum Libraries.
- Conduct tutorial sessions in all areas of mathematics.
- Conduct mini-lessons in writing and study skills.
- Set an example of personal excellence for AVID students.
- Assist students in the writing process, including brainstorming and editing.
- Communicate with the AVID coordinator/teacher regarding student progress.
Requirements
- Strong math and English background, evidenced by college transcript.
- Effective communication skills with students and adults.
- Demonstrated reliability.
- College student with a minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
