About the position
The Avid Tutor (Junior School) position at Azle ISD involves providing academic support to students under the supervision of the AVID Elective Teacher and Campus AVID Coordinator. The role focuses on enhancing students' understanding of various subjects, particularly mathematics and writing, while fostering a collaborative learning environment. Tutors will engage in evaluating student progress, conducting tutorial sessions, and assisting in college preparation skills.
Responsibilities
- Determine concepts that need to be taught or retaught based on student notes and discussions.
- Evaluate student binders, including calendars and class notes.
- Familiarize with materials in the AVID Curriculum Libraries and textbooks used by AVID students.
- Conduct tutorial sessions in mathematics and assist in writing processes across subjects.
- Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for AVID students.
- Communicate frequently with the AVID coordinator/teacher regarding student progress.
Requirements
- Strong math and English background, evidenced by college transcript.
- Effective communication skills with students and adults.
- Demonstrated reliability.
- College student with a minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
