About the position

The Avionic Systems Integration and Test Engineer II role at Blue Origin focuses on developing and testing systems for lunar missions. This position is integral to the Lunar Permanence business unit, which aims to create sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo to the lunar surface. The engineer will work within a collaborative team to ensure safe and efficient spaceflight operations, contributing to the broader mission of enabling human life in space.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans, procedures, and scripts to be executed on the Vehicle Test Bed (VTB).
  • Conduct formal verification and validation testing and document test results per program requirements.
  • Support the integration of vehicle hardware, ground support equipment, operator consoles and analysis tooling necessary to verify the requirements and performance of units under test within the VTB.
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware and software issues in a lab environment.
  • Design, develop and implement VTB test tools and software to automate testing processes and improve efficiency.
  • Support integration and test activities including wiring, hardware installation, and test bench setup.
  • Participate in design and system reviews to provide feedback on integration and testability throughout all phases of the project.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate hardware simulation and fault injection solutions with real-time vehicle simulations.

Requirements

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science or related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience integrating and testing vehicle systems
  • Experience developing special electronic test equipment and troubleshooting equipment
  • Proficient in the use of standard electronic lab tests and troubleshooting equipment
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with the development and execution of a large-scale verification of avionics on autonomous spaceflight systems
  • Experience supporting testbeds for spaceflight systems
  • Experience with programming in C++ and/or Python, Simulink experience.
