About the position

The Senior Avionics Engineer for the C-5 Galaxy WLS at Diaconia is responsible for the definition, development, integration, and verification of avionics subsystems. This role involves ensuring compliance with airworthiness standards and supporting various testing and certification processes. The engineer will work closely with a team to analyze systems, provide technical advice, and assist in the development of requirements for future upgrades, all while contributing to the overall mission of enhancing aircraft systems and subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Support avionics subsystem definition, development, integration, and verification methods.
  • Assist in Aircraft Information Management Systems (AIMS) requirements and certification.
  • Define requirements and support testing for Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM).
  • Conduct systems analyses for avionics system design and feasibility.
  • Attend technical reviews and provide advice on hardware and software installation.
  • Review technical documents for compliance with specifications and airworthiness.
  • Support technical interchange meetings regarding controls, displays, and data buses.
  • Assist in developing requirements for future equipment upgrades.
  • Translate user requirements into weapons system requirements for design and testing.
  • Support project team meetings and technical reviews.

Requirements

  • BS/MS degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in avionics engineering, with at least 5 years in the DoD.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; Secret or Top Secret Clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria.
  • Knowledge of FAA and DoD airworthiness/certification processes.
  • Familiarity with technical evaluations and acquisition strategies.
