About the position

The Aviation Solutions Division of BAE Systems is seeking a qualified Avionics Field Service Engineer to support various aircraft-related activities including site surveys, installations, quality assurance, aircraft modification system installations, structure modifications, and production integration efforts. The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in installations, aircraft operations, maintenance, repairs, and modifications of equipment, as well as providing technical support for integrated systems and subsystems. The role involves analyzing and evaluating products and their performance, troubleshooting, and diagnosing malfunctions to resolve issues effectively. Maintaining effective communication and relations with customers is also a critical aspect of this position. The selected candidate will be required to travel up to 50% of the time to both local and field locations to support installations, site surveys, and quality assurance efforts. This position is based in scenic and historic Southern Maryland, specifically in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor, which is adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. It is important to note that there is no monetary relocation assistance available for this position, so applicants must either currently reside in or be willing to relocate to St. Mary's County, Maryland, or the surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

  • Support aircraft site surveys and installations.
  • Provide quality assurance support for aircraft modifications.
  • Assist in the installation of aircraft modification systems and structure modifications.
  • Integrate production efforts related to aircraft systems.
  • Analyze and evaluate products and their performance.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in aircraft systems and subsystems.
  • Maintain effective communication and relations with customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline with 3-5 years of related work experience (additional years of experience in aircraft avionics may substitute for the degree).
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes.
  • Experience with cable production, harness assembly, and connector integration.
  • Knowledge of safety and safe work environments (HAZMAT or OSHA training).
  • Fiber optic certification.
