About the position

The Avionics System & Integration Engineer will play a crucial role in managing systems engineering activities for the Communication Low Orbit Project (Comm LEO) at Amentum. This position involves supporting engineering flight project schedules, procurement documentation, and system requirements, while ensuring compliance with architectural requirements and design verification. The engineer will collaborate with a diverse team to contribute to NASA's deep space exploration initiatives, leveraging their expertise in avionics and systems engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Manage systems engineering activities for the Communication Low Orbit Project (Comm LEO).
  • Support engineering flight project schedules, procurement documentation, and budget management.
  • Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages.
  • Conduct product life cycle reviews and coordinate integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Align requirements with hardware specifications and understand verifications.
  • Perform system engineering functions and provide user input during the design process.
  • Work with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware.
  • Review verification and validation reports for compliance with requirements.
  • Participate in system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews, and critical design reviews.
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses.
  • Participate in testing, verification, and operation of as-built hardware.
  • Identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses with team members.
  • Present schedule and progress updates to customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the field or related area.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools, and technologies including model-based systems engineering.
  • Understanding of test principles, tools, and processes for developing test requirements.
  • Familiarity with concepts in the space hardware field, including mechanical and electrical system design.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and present verbally at meetings.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Experience working in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork.
  • Experience with NASA processes.
