About the position

The Avionics Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the development and integration of software components for the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program, which is a key initiative in the modernization of Army Aviation. This position involves creating architecture models, writing requirements, and ensuring the successful integration of avionics systems to enhance the Army's assault capabilities over the next 30 years.

Responsibilities

  • Develop architecture models for software components.
  • Write high level requirements for software components.
  • Perform SysML Modeling in MagicDraw/Cameo.
  • Generate system functional requirements from stakeholder expectation.
  • Validate and verify system requirements.
  • Coordinate with Internal and External teams, suppliers, and peers to generate and execute project/design plans and reviews.
  • Develop test cases to verify the system under test.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system integration/verification issues.
  • Manage and coordinate issues, problem reports, and change requests to closure.
  • Coordinate design changes and deliveries with Safety, Security, and Certification organizations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of systems requirements, integrated validation/verification activities, and issue resolution.
  • Escalate issues that need additional engineering or business leadership assistance in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required.
  • At least 2+ years' work experience in a similar engineering environment.
  • Experience in developing or designing within an Avionics Environment.
  • Experience with MBSE tools (e.g., EA Sparx, IBM Rhapsody, Magic Draw).
  • Experience with CM tools (e.g., SVN, Clearcase, git, Dimensions).
  • Experience with engineering processes including requirements definition, validation, and verification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DO-297, DO-178 and/or DO-331 process assurance experience.
  • Prior experience working on A653 partition-based operating system.
