About the position

The Avionics Technician IV position at KBFS in Temple, TX, is a full-time role focused on providing superior support for avionics and navigation equipment in rotary wing and fixed-wing aircraft. The technician will be responsible for the repair, installation, and testing of various avionics systems, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and maintaining high safety standards. This role requires a strong background in avionics, preferably with military training or equivalent experience, and involves collaboration with logistics and maintenance teams to minimize aircraft downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and install avionics and navigation equipment for rotary wing and fixed-wing aircraft.
  • Install fixed-wing autopilot systems and perform extensive cockpit modifications.
  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercially available avionics equipment.
  • Ensure all repairs are properly performed and documented prior to customer release.
  • Sign Return to Service in accordance with FAA Regulations after inspection and verification.
  • Operate AGSE as required for maintenance tasks.
  • Prepare aircraft maintenance forms and records, ensuring safe maintenance operations.
  • Assist in scheduling avionics repairs considering workflow and job requirements.
  • Coordinate with Logistics Specialist for ordering parts and supplies to minimize aircraft downtime.
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
  • Maintain inventory of parts, tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and maintenance management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in avionics repair.
  • Experience as a repair station Avionics Inspector.
  • Ability to lead avionics maintenance teams and supervise subordinate mechanics.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge of aircraft avionics systems.
  • Holds an FAA Airframe Certificate or is eligible to receive one with limitations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal military aviation training or equivalent training from an OEM or technical school.
  • High school diploma or 4 years of direct relevant experience.
