About the position

The AVP, Actuarial Pricing - E&S Property position is a dynamic role within Arch's E&S Property group, focusing on providing innovative insurance solutions for businesses facing exceptional risks. As the lead actuary, the individual will manage a team to develop analytical tools and insights that enhance profitability and risk selection, particularly in the context of climate change and evolving market dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Provide actuarial support to the E&S Property division, collaborating with business unit leadership and catastrophe modeling teams.
• Develop accurate risk assessments to improve technical pricing, refining existing structures and identifying new predictors.
• Lead the team in creating and enhancing benchmarking tools in Excel and Python for underwriters.
• Offer insights to business unit leadership on the health of the book, differentiating between products and segments.
• Assist in evaluating new product opportunities, either through partnerships or in-house development.
• Manage and mentor a team of actuaries and analysts, fostering the development of future leaders.

Requirements

• Qualified actuary (ACAS/FCAS) with 10 to 20 years of experience, though exceptional candidates may have as little as 7 years.
• Strong communication skills for managing relationships and presenting to senior executives.
• Technical actuarial skills, including experience with rater development in Excel/Python or similar platforms.
• Prior experience in property pricing or catastrophe modeling is preferred but not required.
