About the position

This position provides leadership, direction, and functional expertise to ensure departmental results for our Retirement Plan Services team. You will direct and provide subject matter expertise on the design and execution of actuarial models and analysis. In addition, you will contribute to the development of Actuarial strategy and ensure the design and execution of actuarial models and associated analysis to enable and support fact-based decision making by management. In this role, you will oversee Assumption Governance, Rate Setting, and Risk Management functions, contributing to the strategy development for actuarial trends, issues, and/or concerns. You will anticipate and provide strategies/solutions to complex actuarial problems or trends, directing actuarial projects with broad impact to the enterprise. This includes delegating work and providing appropriate levels of support and responsibility to employees. You will partner effectively with various levels of management and other stakeholders to generate high-quality decisions, providing guidance on the structure of actuarial models and assumption development while ensuring a proper balance of precision and timeliness. You will monitor developments in the actuarial industry and translate this information into business solutions. Leading the research, design, and implementation of actuarial modeling techniques and tools to support current and future business needs will be a key responsibility. Additionally, you will direct and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives. Identifying and directing strategic process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the team, department, and/or business unit will also be part of your role. As a leader, you will provide subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects, offering training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members. You will give honest and open feedback to aid in the development of talent, providing strategic leadership and direction to continually improve the capability and results of the team. You will also direct and execute approved strategy decisions and contribute to strategy creation, ensuring that top talent is hired and retained.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
  • 10+ Years of experience in actuarial science that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
  • 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience including influencing senior management/critical stakeholders experience
  • Upon Hire Certifications/Licensures: (FSA designation or ASA designation with additional years actuarial experience)
