About the position

The AVP, Assistant Controller will lead all of Prime's accounting operations, shared services, and corporate accounting functions across the company. This position will set and drive strategy to enable accounting operations to support the organization in an evolving environment responding to company strategic initiatives and leading change, while influencing others in a matrixed environment to achieve company goals. The position will ensure strong financial controls, providing oversight of the monthly and quarterly accounting close process and successful delivery of accounting operations commitments. This is a key leadership position reporting to the Corporate Controller that will partner with other senior executive leaders across Prime in the achievement of company objectives. In this role, the AVP, Assistant Controller will lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting close ensuring deadlines are met. They will maintain and improve strong financial internal controls to ensure accounting and financial reporting in compliance with financial policies and US GAAP. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of organizational commitments for accounting shared services functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and client billing. They will assess the impacts of company strategic initiatives on accounting operations, developing strategies to evolve the department and lead change to appropriately support the enterprise. The AVP, Assistant Controller will also ensure the successful completion of both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records and implement agreed-upon recommendations. They will evolve and implement department key performance indicators to ensure appropriate management and oversight of the function. Collaboration with other leaders across the company will be essential in achieving department objectives, influencing change where needed. The role will also involve managing service provider relationships related to accounting operations and areas of oversight, leading a customer service-oriented team that supports significant growth, meets or exceeds client expectations, and manages the costs of the services provided. Strong leadership will be required to develop and coach direct reports and other team members in their professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounting close ensuring deadlines are met
  • Maintain, and improve where necessary, strong financial internal controls to ensure accounting and financial reporting in compliance with financial policies and US GAAP
  • Ensure successful delivery of organizational commitments for accounting shared services functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable and client billing
  • Assess impacts of company strategic initiatives to the accounting operations, developing strategies to evolve the department and lead change to appropriately support the enterprise

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience; HS diploma or GED is required
  • 12 years of work experience in Accounting or Finance
  • 8 years of management/people leadership experience
  • Must be able to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial controls and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport, build relationships, and collaborate effectively across departments and at all levels within the organization
  • Proven experience leading and inspiring a large team to meet business objectives with outstanding results
  • Demonstrated ability in leading complex projects and initiatives
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly communicate complex topics to executives and other stakeholders

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • MBA and/or CMA
  • PBM, health plan or healthcare expertise and experience
  • Previous public accounting experience with a large accounting firm
  • SAP or other financial systems experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
