About the position

The Assistant Vice President/Senior Claim Manager at HUB International will oversee a team of directors, managers, and supervisors responsible for various claims types, including Liability, VPD, Litigation, and more. This role focuses on managing daily workflows, ensuring adherence to established claim procedures, and fostering a culture of innovation and performance excellence within the claims department.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage teams to ensure performance metrics, best practices, and KPIs are met or exceeded.
  • Meet or exceed all key performance indicators and internal/external audits.
  • Manage loss costs and allocated loss adjustment expenses effectively.
  • Maintain high employee engagement and retention through recognition and feedback.
  • Provide direction, leadership, and training to the claims leadership team and staff.
  • Oversee claims staff regarding coverage, investigations, and evaluations on claims.
  • Manage total losses and salvage claims according to company procedures.
  • Conduct regular meetings with claim adjusters to discuss performance and strategies.
  • Perform monthly audits of claim files as per company directives.
  • Complete quarterly and annual performance evaluations for claims adjusters.
  • Provide reserve and settlement authority to claim adjusters as per guidelines.
  • Attend management meetings and coordinate with underwriting/claims meetings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience managing automobile liability and Commercial Auto claims.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience in Material Damage and Total Loss claims.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to teach, coach, mentor, and motivate claims staff.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Experience in reviewing processes for improvement opportunities.
