About the position

The AVP Cloud Data Analytics Architecture - Fleet at GM Financial is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding the development of cloud-based data solutions. This position involves leading a team of data engineers and collaborating with various stakeholders to implement agile methodologies in data architecture and engineering. The role emphasizes the importance of data in driving business objectives and supports GM Financial's mission to innovate within the auto finance industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data engineering and cloud data architecture development to deliver business solutions.
  • Deliver data engineering solutions using agile methods and standards set by the organization.
  • Translate business requirements and technical strategies into data architectures and processes.
  • Collaborate across technical and business functions to ensure alignment on business requirements and desired solutions.
  • Architect the flow of data from transactional systems to various stages of curation to enable analytics.
  • Manage vendor development work to desired objectives and standards.
  • Establish and utilize data engineering performance metrics for data quality, timeliness, security, compliance, and other related matters.
  • Coach, mentor, and train cloud data architecture team members to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
  • Assist leadership in determining the annual business plan and budgetary requirements for the department.
  • Develop relationships with key customer business and technical decision makers to drive long-term cloud data adoption.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of data engineering and cloud data architecture.
  • Working knowledge of delivering large data engineering projects using Agile methods.
  • Ability to translate knowledge into practical data engineering designs and architectures.
  • Ability to research, learn, and apply advances in cloud architectures and data engineering.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence decisions with stakeholders and vendors.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and grow a team of data architects and engineers.
  • Ability to promote agile methods and develop partnerships with agile roles.
  • Experience with Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Service Bus, ADLS2, Delta Lake, Cosmos DB, and Synapse.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, SAS, R, Ruby, Java, and C.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
