About the position

The AVP, Cloud Engineer at OTC Markets Group will lead the Cybersecurity team within the IT Infrastructure department, focusing on supporting production systems, managing infrastructure, and ensuring system security and compliance. This role emphasizes innovation, responsibility, and autonomy in a hybrid work environment, contributing to the company's reputation for quality and achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for production systems hosting real-time trading applications, acting as an escalation point for Linux-related incidents and participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Administer both production and non-production environments, including co-located and cloud-based systems.
  • Manage and apply updates to kernels, drivers, firmware, and security patches to ensure system stability and security.
  • Diagnose and resolve system issues, perform root cause analysis, and support QA and development test environments.
  • Administer, upgrade, and optimize server configuration using Red Hat Satellite and Ansible Tower.
  • Maintain Puppet Enterprise infrastructure and code base, enhancing system reliability and consistency.
  • Automate routine tasks and develop scripts and utilities using Bash, Python, or Perl to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.
  • Configure and maintain monitoring solutions in tools such as Nagios, Zenoss, or Zabbix to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Contribute to the design and deployment of new infrastructure projects, providing input to improve current systems and workflows.
  • Collaborate with Development and IT teams to provision servers for new projects, perform rack and stack operations, and ensure system readiness.
  • Use ticketing and knowledge base systems aligned with change management protocols, documenting infrastructure support procedures and run books.
  • Manage backup systems, maintain disaster recovery processes, and ensure effective safeguarding of critical business functions.
  • Follow security best practices, perform vulnerability scans on new systems, and work continuously to improve security measures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in Linux, storage, and backup infrastructure support, with a solid understanding of RedHat 7/8 operational environments and VMware platforms (6.0+).
  • Hands-on expertise with configuration management tools, with a strong preference for Ansible.
  • Operational experience with Veritas NetBackup, including tape management and restores, and familiarity with Dell/EMC storage arrays (PowerStore, Data Domain, Unity, etc.).
  • Advanced Linux (RedHat 7/8) troubleshooting skills, including managing updates, kernel patches, and driver upgrades.
  • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, EKS, IAM, RDS, S3), including experience in supporting production infrastructure across co-located and cloud-based environments.
  • In-depth understanding of network protocols (SMTP, DNS, LDAP, DHCP, FTP, NFS, SMB, NTP, SNMP, SSH) and networking concepts, including load balancers, Ethernet, and TCP/IP.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl, with experience in developing automated solutions and utilities for task efficiency.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zenoss, Zabbix, etc.) to configure and script proactive monitoring and alerting mechanisms.
  • Knowledge in OS hardening, security best practices, Puppet Enterprise configuration, and YUM package management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work cross-functionally with Development and IT teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with configuration management (Puppet, Chef, Salt).
  • Exposure to cloud IaaS environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
