About the position

Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU), the 3rd largest credit union in Florida, is seeking an AVP, Cybersecurity Operations to join our ONESCCU team at our Miramar Operations Center. With over 70 years in business and more than 8 billion dollars in assets, SCCU is committed to providing exceptional service to our members, who are our top priority. This role is pivotal in leading our cybersecurity operations, ensuring the safety and security of our members' information and assets. The AVP will provide strategic direction and leadership to the cybersecurity operations team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This position involves leading and coordinating incident response activities, managing threat intelligence programs, and overseeing vulnerability management programs to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities in a timely manner. The AVP will also evaluate, implement, and manage security tools and technologies to enhance SCCU's cybersecurity defenses. Compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards, such as PCI DSS, NIST, and FFIEC, is crucial, and the AVP will manage cybersecurity risks effectively while participating in internal and external audits to demonstrate adherence to these standards. Additionally, the role includes recruiting, mentoring, and developing cybersecurity operations team members, fostering their professional growth and technical expertise. Collaboration with other IT teams, business units, and senior management is essential to align cybersecurity initiatives with SCCU's business objectives. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for work from home up to three days a week, and flexible scheduling options.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the cybersecurity operations team.
  • Lead and coordinate incident response activities, ensuring timely resolution of cybersecurity threats.
  • Manage threat intelligence programs to proactively identify and mitigate emerging cyber threats.
  • Implement and oversee vulnerability assessment and management programs.
  • Evaluate, implement, and manage security tools and technologies to enhance cybersecurity defenses.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to demonstrate adherence to cybersecurity standards.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop cybersecurity operations team members.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, business units, and senior management to align cybersecurity initiatives with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 10-15 years of experience in cybersecurity operations with at least 5 years in a leadership role required.
  • Experience in the financial services industry or a similarly regulated environment is highly desirable.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Master's) and relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with incident response in a financial services context.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks relevant to cybersecurity.
