About the position

The AVP of Cybersecurity at GM Financial is responsible for leading the Cybersecurity Operations group, overseeing the design and implementation of security controls for new systems and technologies. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to define security strategies, guide architecture decisions, and assess risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational goals. The position offers the opportunity to work on diverse Cybersecurity projects across multiple industries, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance security capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Cybersecurity Operations group and manage engineering talent.
  • Coordinate with Senior IT Security leaders to set direction and operations of the group.
  • Prepare roadmaps, guidelines, and direction for the department.
  • Prepare technical requirements and standards, manage project assignments, and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Identify, engineer, and design security technologies including SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, DLP, and more.
  • Communicate critical threats and remediation efforts for the enterprise.
  • Provide in-depth support for information security incidents including internal violations and hacker attacks.
  • Prepare and update information procedures, standards, and technical requirement documents.
  • Act as a technical resource for department management and others seeking information about security.
  • Develop detailed proposals and plans for new information security systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 6 years of experience in large and complex business environments with a successful track record working directly with senior management.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Security Architecture and Design, Security Governance and Risk Management, Security Engineering and Operations, IT or Security Audit, and Security, Legal, and Regulatory Compliance.
  • Advanced knowledge in infrastructure design and management, local and wide area networking concepts, principles, and protocols.
  • Strong working knowledge of Intel platforms, iSeries and pSeries servers, and IT Service Management best practices.
  • Understanding of routing and switching protocols as they relate to load balancing.
  • Strong understanding of application layer protocols including HTTP, SSH, SSL, and DNS.
  • Knowledge of IT security processes and controls as well as IT infrastructure and networking technical knowledge.
