About the position

The position involves managing and growing a portfolio of environmental liability insurance products by establishing strategic business relationships with wholesaler and retailer brokers. The role requires utilizing business acumen and underwriting skills to develop pricing and negotiate terms to build a profitable book of business.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new and renewal environmental insurance products and negotiate policy terms and conditions adhering to Allied World Environmental Underwriting Guidelines.
  • Strategically develop broker distribution to generate new business opportunities and manage existing accounts.
  • Prepare quotes, binders, referrals, and underwriting file documentation in compliance with company guidelines.
  • Develop and manage positive working relationships with brokers, insureds, and internal personnel to ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and perform regular marketing calls, account stewardship meetings, and events to promote product offerings and engage with existing and prospective insureds and brokers.
  • Continue professional development through relevant training courses, continuing education, and/or seminars.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience underwriting environmental liability insurance products including site pollution, contractors' pollution, and contractors' professional policies working with both retail and wholesale brokers.
  • Practical knowledge and experience with all environmental liability products and services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with both internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to provide superior customer service to brokers and insureds.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Strong business and relationship management skills to develop new business opportunities, retain renewal accounts, and establish long-term strategic broker relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and desk management skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
  • Undergraduate degree required.
