In this role, the AVP, Group Account Director will play a pivotal part in client strategy, marketing, and campaign management, while also assisting in the up-selling of new products and services to existing clients. This position is crucial in supporting business development and sales efforts by overseeing the delivery of managed market services and products across multiple projects for assigned clients. The AVP, Group Account Director will be responsible for the overall management, mentoring, training, and development of the Account Services department. Key responsibilities include leading one or more workstreams to deliver sold projects, managing client expectations, and ensuring the highest quality execution of services. The role requires regular liaison with clients to ascertain strategic brand or departmental direction, identifying obstacles and providing solution-oriented ideas for discussion and implementation. Additionally, the AVP will participate in strategy development discussions, ensuring alignment with brand strategies and initiatives, and will work closely with internal teams to coordinate program development and execution. Leadership is a significant aspect of this role, as the AVP will manage account teams to meet and exceed customer needs, coach and develop staff, and establish clear roles and responsibilities within the team. Business development is also a key focus, with responsibilities including pursuing new business opportunities, developing tactical and budget recommendations, and managing budgets and financial projections to meet corporate and account goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmaceutical advertising or managed markets, with proven experience in client management and team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more workstreams delivering sold projects, including key activities, schedules, milestones, outcomes, deliverables, resource plans, and budgets.
  • Liaise with clients regularly to ascertain strategic brand or departmental direction.
  • Identify obstacles and challenges, providing solution-oriented ideas to clients and internal teams for discussion and implementation.
  • Travel to meetings as appropriate to manage client expectations and ensure high-quality execution.
  • Participate in strategy development discussions and display a deep understanding of brand strategies.
  • Develop, review, and comment on brand content to ensure alignment with brand strategies and initiatives.
  • Work with Medical/Copy/Strategic Services to stay informed of relevant client and therapeutic area developments.
  • Coordinate logistical components of program development, execution, and budget management with internal teams.
  • Ensure the highest standards of quality control of client materials and lead internal teams to meet project timelines and quality standards.
  • Manage account teams and individuals to ensure they meet and exceed customer needs and expectations.
  • Coach, develop, and supervise staff consistently and communicate clear roles and responsibilities of team members.
  • Pursue and secure business with existing and prospective new clients to achieve or exceed annual revenue objectives.
  • Support the pursuit of new business opportunities and development of pitch presentations.
  • Develop tactical and budget recommendations aligned with brand strategies in conjunction with senior account leadership.
  • Manage budgets, projections, reconciliation, and forecasting to meet corporate and account goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 8+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical advertising agency or managed markets, medical communications company, with experience as the principal client liaison managing relationships.
  • 5+ years in direct client/brand account management.
  • Experience with product launches.
  • Experience supervising 2 or more team members.
  • Prior experience managing a large book of business.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for client meetings.
  • Ability to work in the Precision AQ Gladstone, NJ or NYC office 1 day a week.
