About the position

Sompo International is seeking an AVP, Insurance Operations Alignment to join our North America Operations team. This position can be based out of our Charlotte, NC, Morristown, NJ, or Alpharetta, GA offices. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and executing a comprehensive strategy for identifying and consolidating work processes across both front and back-office teams. This role requires close collaboration with senior leadership to ensure that the consolidation strategy aligns with the company's overarching goals and objectives. In this position, you will conduct thorough assessments of existing workflows to identify opportunities for consolidation, streamlining, and standardization. You will work collaboratively with department heads and subject matter experts to design and implement efficient and integrated processes. A key aspect of this role is fostering strong collaboration between front and back-office teams to ensure seamless transitions and alignment of work processes. You will facilitate regular communication to address challenges, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement. Additionally, you will lead change management efforts to ensure smooth transitions, manage resistance, and communicate effectively with all stakeholders. You will oversee the implementation of new consolidated processes, providing guidance and support to teams during the transition. Defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the success of work consolidation efforts will also be part of your responsibilities, along with monitoring and analyzing performance data to identify areas for further optimization and refinement. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies throughout the consolidation process is crucial, as is mitigating risks associated with process changes by implementing appropriate controls and oversight mechanisms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for identifying and consolidating work processes across front and back-office teams.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align the consolidation strategy with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of existing front and back-office workflows to identify opportunities for consolidation, streamlining, and standardization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Pursuit of ongoing educational designations related to the Insurance Industry preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in underwriting operations, process improvement, outsourcing or similar roles within the P&C insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of insurance operations, processes, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, change management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and build consensus across diverse teams.
  • Strong project management skills to oversee complex initiatives from conceptualization to implementation.
  • Ability to establish priorities, anticipate problems, know and communicate the status of assignments to involved parties.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities; strong work ethic & energetic.
  • Sense of urgency required.
