About the position

The AVP of Internal Communications at Travelers Insurance Company is responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans that support business objectives and reinforce the company's culture. This role involves acting as a communications advisor to senior management, overseeing the creation and implementation of enterprise-wide communications, and managing a team of communications professionals. The position requires strong writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to cultivate partnerships with senior leaders and evaluate the effectiveness of communication initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and proofread written materials for accuracy and adherence to brand guidelines.
• Oversee the development and implementation of enterprise-wide communications.
• Provide strategic communication counsel to executives and senior management.
• Cultivate strong partnerships with senior leaders to implement communications initiatives.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of communications using qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Manage the use of templates, best practices, and brand guidelines in communications development.
• Act as a subject matter expert and mentor team members on communications strategies.
• Identify risks and recommend solutions for communications work.
• Manage team members and develop their expertise as business partners.
• Assist with the management of the Communications Department.

Requirements

• Twelve years or more of experience in communications or a related field.
• Five years of people management experience with the ability to effectively build, manage, and lead teams.
• Expert writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to a full array of audiences.
