About the position

The AVP, PRISM Scrum Master at Synchrony is a pivotal role responsible for leading multiple agile scrum teams focused on the development of Strategic Initiatives within the Credit organization and the PRISM Large Solution. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering agile behaviors and acting as a servant leader and coach to the teams. The Scrum Master will assist self-organizing teams in achieving their goals by facilitating discussions and meetings, collaborating across the organization, removing roadblocks, maintaining team focus, and promoting continuous delivery and improvements. In this role, the Scrum Master will support the SAFe Core Values and apply SAFe principles while managing a diverse IT team that includes application architects, data engineers, developers, QA, UX designers, and outsourced vendors. The Scrum Master will ensure effective collaboration across agile teams, ART, Large Solution, and other dependency teams, while managing iterations and Program Increments (PI) to keep processes, delivery, and priorities accurate and timely. They will work closely with Product Owners to ensure deliverables and feedback are completed on time, supporting the agile teams in shaping requirements, defining, building, testing, and deploying solutions. The AVP, PRISM Scrum Master will also be responsible for ensuring that all documentation adheres to SYF IT PMO policies and standards, facilitating technical collaboration with third parties, and conducting SAFe ceremonies such as Daily Stand Ups, Sprint Planning, and Retrospectives. The role requires generating progress reports and advocating for autonomous, self-organizing, and continuously improving teams. This position is designed for a hands-on, self-motivated professional who can effectively prioritize multiple initiatives and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple agile scrum teams executing on development for Strategic Initiatives within the Credit organization and PRISM Large Solution.
  • Foster agile behavior and act as a servant leader and coach to the teams.
  • Assist self-organizing teams in achieving their goals by facilitating discussions and meetings.
  • Collaborate across the company to remove roadblocks and maintain team focus.
  • Support SAFe Core Values and apply SAFe principles and practices.
  • Manage a diverse IT team including application architects, data engineers, developers, QA, UX designers, and outsourced vendors.
  • Ensure effective collaboration across agile teams, ART, Large Solution, and dependency teams.
  • Manage iterations and Program Increments (PI) to keep processes, delivery, and priorities accurate and timely.
  • Work with Product Owners to ensure timely completion of deliverables and feedback.
  • Support agile teams in shaping requirements, defining, building, testing, and deploying solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to SYF IT PMO policies and standards for documentation and repository management.
  • Facilitate technical collaboration with third parties, such as data or service providers.
  • Conduct SAFe ceremonies including Daily Stand Ups, Sprint Planning, and Retrospectives.
  • Generate progress reports such as burn down charts and iteration stats/velocity.
  • Advocate for autonomous, self-organizing, and continuously improving teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of Technology experience or equivalent leadership program experience, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED and 8+ years of IT experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in developing and implementing information systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management and/or as a scrum master with a strong understanding of Agile.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile practices and working knowledge of Scrum and Scrum tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Scrum Master Certification and SAFe agile experience or training.
