About the position

The AVP, Product Manager at Unum is responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of product management across various platforms and customer value streams. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative products and services that enhance customer experience and meet business objectives. The Product Manager will oversee product backlogs, define success criteria, and implement Agile methodologies to drive transformation and achieve operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business and technology transformations with successful outcomes.
  • Plan and direct the organization's strategic agenda within customer value streams.
  • Manage end-to-end business and IT planning to align teams with value stream goals.
  • Implement Lean Management systems to focus on process improvement and sustainable growth.
  • Set up and manage the Scaled Agile Framework for a Customer Value Stream.
  • Initiate strategies to deliver a simple, modern, and personal customer experience.
  • Conduct Portfolio Assessments to deliver a high return portfolio of Epics.
  • Define new products and processes based on Portfolio Assessments.
  • Contribute to the change agenda and manage change project Portfolio.
  • Supervise innovation and optimization of products and processes.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to align offerings with strategic intent.
  • Manage cross-initiative decisions and tradeoff evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of product ownership, technology acumen, and change experience.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to partner and influence others.
  • Proven project management skills across business and IT.
  • Strategic thinker with tactical execution capabilities.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to use insights to shape product strategy.
  • Adept at analyzing competitive products and anticipating market threats.
  • Ability to prioritize competing opportunities and manage conflict.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Agile methodologies and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Lean Management principles.
