About the position

The AVP, Product Owner at LPL Financial is responsible for identifying product improvements and prioritizing features within an agile framework. This role involves collaborating with business owners and stakeholders to ensure successful product releases and effective communication across the organization. The Product Owner will drive the development process, create user stories, and maintain the product backlog to enhance user experience and deliver value to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Technology while interfacing and engaging with the business user and LPL stakeholders
  • Create user stories and acceptance tests from themes and features granular enough for a single sprint
  • Prioritize user stories by business value and decide which user stories are scheduled into sprints
  • Drive features through the Discovery Phase, ensuring stories are written, UX designs have been tested, and the feature implementation is validated by cross-functional teams
  • Communicate product strategy and status outside the team and at the executive level
  • Use clear goals to communicate the project vision at the beginning of every release and sprint so that the team understands and is equipped to realize it
  • Make business decisions and clearly communicate requirements through epics and stories so they are understood
  • Create, maintain, prioritize, and sequence the product feature backlog based on business value
  • Participate in project planning, daily stand-up meetings (scrums), reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings

Requirements

  • 5+ years product owner experience
  • 3+ years product experience within an agile delivery framework and utilization of JIRA
  • A track record of innovative thinking and problem solving
  • Passion for delivering the best user experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of staff and management across multiple partner teams
  • Exemplary collaboration, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Passion for delivering the best client experience both internally and externally
  • Ability for multi-tasking while prioritizing to show results
  • Ability to effectively respond to dynamically changing work environments and to positively influence business outcomes
