The Global Operations Initiatives & Technology (GOI&T) team has a proven track record of success, and it empowers teams to embrace change and collaborate to achieve results in their projects. The key responsibilities of the team include daily stand ups, sprint planning, sprint review, sprint retrospective and backlog refinement. While they maintain a relentless focus on improving their Agile processes and strive for excellence in project delivery, the GOI&T team can pivot quickly, responding to changing customer needs - consistently delivering value to customers. Role Summary/Purpose: What you'll do as the AVP, Product Owner? The AVP - Product Owner will be responsible for the launch and ongoing development of the Customer Servicing Applications for Synchrony Financial utilizing the Agile methodology. You will work cross functionally to develop operational strategies for Customer Servicing Applications. You would be responsible for research, identifying epics, prioritizing the backlog, developing, verifying and delivering. Essential Responsibilities: As the Product Owner, we'll rely on you to exercise your excellent project management expertise and solid business knowledge of various applications/processes used across the enterprise to define business objectives, identify epics and priorities, plan sprints/iterations, develop, validate and deliver launch plans related to operational or growth initiatives, while ensuring a superior customer or agent experience. You will do this by being the point person on the product development team, using your high-level perspective to define goals and create a vision for development projects. You will be responsible for communicating with stakeholders across the board, including customers, business managers, ART partners and the development team to make sure the goals are clear, and the vision is aligned with business objectives. You will help the agile team maintain the vision by creating a product roadmap, creating the list of backlog items and prioritizing them based on the overall strategy and business objectives. Additionally, you will map out project dependencies to inform the necessary sequence of development. You will spend a significant amount of time overseeing the actual development of the product; being a key player throughout each event, including planning, refinement, review, and sprint. You will be accountable for cross function integration and approval including Compliance, Legal, Brand (Marketing) Reporting, Planning, Forecasting, Training, and Communication. You will also perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise project management expertise and solid business knowledge to define business objectives.

  • Communicate with stakeholders including customers, business managers, ART partners, and the development team.
  • Create a product roadmap and maintain the vision for the agile team.
  • Create and prioritize the backlog items based on overall strategy and business objectives.
  • Map out project dependencies to inform the necessary sequence of development.
  • Oversee the actual development of the product during planning, refinement, review, and sprint events.
  • Ensure cross function integration and approval including Compliance, Legal, Brand (Marketing), Reporting, Planning, Forecasting, Training, and Communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with minimum 5+ years of overall experience or in lieu of a degree, 9+ years of overall experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of Team/Process lead experience in Financial Services Industry or experience in Collections, Operations or Customer Solutions.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience participating in projects using Agile methodology (SAFe/Non SAFe).
  • SAFe POPM trained or certified.
  • Expert verbal & written communicator, able to modulate content based on audience.
  • Ability to break down complex operational/systemic procedures & create/convert them into simplified process maps/documents.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of applications used across different functions.
  • Superior decision-making skills.
  • Action oriented - create an environment to leverage agile methodology and deliver continuous benefit to the business teams during a project.
  • Proven experience in problem solving and negotiated solutions.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to create a holistic roadmap and planning for product delivery.
  • Ability to build & maintain relationships & partnerships with key stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior PMP, Scrum, SAFe trained or certified.
  • Prior Product Owner or Business Analyst experience.
  • Solid Project Management skills.
  • Technical Aptitude / background.
