About the position

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Real Assets Fund Accounting at Apex Group plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations related to real estate investments. This position involves performing detailed reviews and analyses of financial statements for real estate ventures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. The AVP will be responsible for preparing and reviewing monthly profit and loss estimates, as well as quarterly financial reports, which are essential for providing insights into the performance of real estate investments. In addition to financial reporting, the AVP will prepare and review supporting schedules for various activities and transactions, utilizing advanced Excel skills to manage complex data sets. The role also includes supporting the audit process by preparing and reviewing work-papers and other necessary documentation. The AVP will be tasked with preparing quarterly custom reporting and partner allocations, including waterfall schedules, which are critical for stakeholder transparency and accountability. A key aspect of this role is maintaining and managing multiple client relationships, ensuring that both internal and external customers receive excellent service. The AVP will analyze existing processes and functions, offering suggestions for improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Furthermore, the AVP may assist or manage special projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform review and analysis of real estate venture financial statements
  • Prepare and review both monthly profit and loss estimates and quarterly financial reporting for real estate investments
  • Prepare and review supporting schedules for various activities and transactions utilizing Excel
  • Support audit process through the preparation and review of work-papers and other support as requested
  • Prepare and review quarterly custom reporting and other schedules
  • Prepare and review partner allocations and waterfall schedules
  • Maintain and manage multiple client relationships, providing excellent internal and external customer service
  • Analyze processes and functions offering suggestions for process improvement
  • Assist and/or manage special projects, as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting (CPA a plus)
  • Public accounting and/or real estate company experience preferred
  • 7-10 years of relative experience
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel (Various SUM functions/VLOOKUP's/Index-Match/PivotTables - Macro/OLEDB experience a plus)
  • Yardi or MRI, or Investran experience is a plus
  • Excellent client relationship management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical expertise in real estate investment accounting and/or real estate property accounting
