About the position

The AVP, Solution Architect is a pivotal role responsible for the design and development of applications and services within a solution development workstream. This position requires a balanced mix of technical and business acumen, as the architect collaborates closely with enterprise architects to ensure strategic alignment. The primary focus is on making informed technical decisions that directly impact business outcomes, which the development team will utilize to implement the solutions effectively. In this role, the AVP, Solution Architect must possess a deep understanding of business processes to create a cohesive product vision. This involves not only technical expertise but also strong communication skills to convey complex ideas in simple terms to project teams. The architect will be responsible for building and integrating information systems tailored to meet specific client needs, which often involves the integration of software and hardware solutions. The architect will organize the development efforts, providing guidance throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This includes directing designers and developers on how to construct the prescribed solutions, selecting appropriate technologies, and ensuring that the applications are user-friendly and scalable for future needs. Additionally, the architect will assess the advantages and risks associated with third-party frameworks and platforms, oversee programming, integration, and testing of software systems, and manage special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Build and integrate information systems that meet specific needs, typically involving integration of the software and hardware that best meets the purpose defined by an internal or external client.
  • Organize the development effort and provide guidance to the entire development team during the SDLC.
  • Choose the most appropriate technology for a problem, balancing architectural and business considerations.
  • Focus on how technology can be used to solve a given business problem.
  • Determine which framework, platform, or tech-stack can be used to create a solution.
  • Design the application’s look and feel, its components, and how they interact with each other.
  • Plan for scalability and maintenance with resiliency and reliability considerations.
  • Evaluate the advantages and risks in third-party frameworks/platforms.
  • Oversee the programming, integration, and testing of software systems and associated devices.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years of experience in one or multiple IT areas, or in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma/GED with 9 years of application development experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of full stack development experience using Spring, other JEE technologies, API, microservices, and UI technologies and frameworks.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in application architecture and design with a strong understanding of associated patterns, processes, and tools.

  • Strong working knowledge of the FinTech industry as it relates to consumer financing.

  • Agile expertise with SAFe knowledge.

  • Experience with dependency management tools like Maven, Gradle, and NPM.
