About the position

The Assistant Vice President, Strategic Initiatives - Future of Work at Sun Life is a high-level individual contributor role responsible for leading the development and implementation of organizational goals and objectives across the U.S. business units. This position focuses on managing the transition to a hybrid work environment, ensuring employee engagement, and driving change management initiatives to support the evolving work model at Sun Life U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and gain buy-in from stakeholders for a comprehensive change strategy for hybrid work and Future of Work initiatives.
  • Lead and drive change management for major initiatives transitioning from a virtual to a hybrid work environment.
  • Own, manage, and maintain the change management plan, identifying risks and issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior division leaders and stakeholders.
  • Define clear and actionable deliverables for sponsorship, communications, training, and monitoring of changes.
  • Apply best practices and implement frameworks to improve and sustain behavioral changes.
  • Use data-driven approaches to assess and monitor change management effectiveness.
  • Develop and communicate a strategic vision for Future of Work initiatives.
  • Lead regular communications with executive leaders regarding progress on Future of Work initiatives.
  • Identify training and education opportunities to support the change management plan.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years in a change lead role ideally within consulting, insurance, wealth management, or banking.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Organizational Leadership, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Change Management certification or designation preferred (e.g., Prosci, ACMP, CMI).
  • Experience developing and executing change management plans for large initiatives.
  • Prior experience in enterprise Return to Office or hybrid working projects is preferred.
  • Strong facilitating, influencing, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to motivate and lead others who may not be direct reports.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to use data for decision making.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with various communications tools, including Office Suite, MS Teams, and Zoom.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and experience delivering training sessions.
  • Experience in project management, including project planning and status reporting.
