About the position

The AWS Cloud DBA position is a hybrid role based in Jersey City, NJ, focused on managing and optimizing cloud databases within an investment banking and market data environment. The role requires expertise in AWS services, particularly in migrating data to AWS RDS and other cloud database solutions, while also emphasizing DevOps practices. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and effective data management strategies in a fast-paced financial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize AWS cloud databases, including RDS, Postgres, MySQL, Aurora Postgres, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
  • Migrate data from on-premises systems to AWS RDS and other cloud solutions such as Snowflake and RedShift.
  • Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions tied to business tiering and replication across availability zones and regions.
  • Utilize ETL tools and services like MWAA, Airflow, and AWS Glue for data processing and migration.
  • Automate database management tasks using Python, Terraform, and CloudFormation.
  • Support enterprise-level application integration on AWS and ensure effective monitoring and automation within the AWS environment.
  • Participate in follow-the-sun support, providing weekend support as needed.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience with AWS databases and cloud services.
  • Experience in migrating data from on-premises to AWS RDS and other cloud solutions.
  • Exceptional knowledge of AWS Console, AWS CLI, S3, DMS, and CloudWatch.
  • Proficiency in AWS SDK, RedShift, Snowflake, and Redis.
  • Strong understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with AWS IAM and integration with AWS Identity Center Service.
  • Knowledge of non-relational AWS databases such as DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Neptune, and OpenSearch.
  • Experience with automation and monitoring within AWS, including CI/CD practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in migrating data from on-premises to Snowflake and RedShift.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and DevOps practices.
  • Enterprise-level application integration experience on AWS.
