About the position

Illumination Works is seeking an AWS Cloud Developer / Engineer to provide advanced and cross-technology engineering throughout all phases of the technology/project lifecycle. This role is crucial as it encompasses accountability for the overall systems infrastructure, which includes engineering, implementation, integration, and technical services and support. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining cloud-based applications, monitoring their performance to proactively identify potential issues, and tuning them appropriately. Additionally, mentoring and coaching others to establish and improve processes and procedures will be a key aspect of this position. In this role, you will design and implement overall infrastructure components in collaboration with infrastructure and development teams, ensuring that the overall solution meets the required Service Level Agreements (SLA), Disaster Recovery (DR) protocols, monitoring, security, cost, and scalability needs. You will generate scripts and templates necessary for the automatic provisioning of resources in the cloud and debug technical issues within a complex stack that involves virtualization, containers, and serverless architectures. Establishing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, including supporting security scans, will also be part of your responsibilities. You will build and deploy applications on cloud platforms and leverage cloud services to create scalable and efficient software solutions while supporting and maintaining infrastructure solutions using the required tools and technologies. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement overall infrastructure components per project with infrastructure and development teams, ensuring the overall solution meets SLA, DR, monitoring, security, cost, and scalability needs.
  • Generate scripts/templates required for the automatic provisioning of resources in the cloud.
  • Debug technical issues inside a complex stack involving virtualization, containers, and serverless.
  • Establish Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Pipelines including supporting Security Scans.
  • Build and deploy applications on cloud platforms.
  • Leverage cloud services to build scalable and efficient software solutions.
  • Support and maintain infrastructure solutions utilizing required tools and technologies.

Requirements

  • Must have 6 years of cloud experience, with a minimum of 2-3 years as a cloud engineer with AWS including Lambda, EKS, API Gateways, AWS Glue.
  • Proficient in programming languages and frameworks, such as Python and Java, and serverless computing models like AWS Lambda.
  • Experience with designing, developing, and deploying applications on cloud platforms.
  • Experience implementing and leveraging cloud services to build scalable and efficient software solutions.
  • Experience with networking in the cloud to include network security groups, user defined routes, application gateways, and load balancers.
  • Experience with Kubernetes Service configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of PKI to include generating certificate requests, provisioning certificates in PKCS7 and PKCS12 formats, configuring CA bundles and Windows certificate repositories, generating self-signed certificates, and troubleshooting PKI-related errors and issues with cloud resources.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or comparable academic discipline.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Secret Clearance (this requires US citizenship).
  • Experience with GovCloud or CloudOne desirable.
  • AWS solutions architect or AWS Engineer certification desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Integrating PKI with Lambda functions.
  • Managing API endpoints inbound and outbound for system interface management.
  • Familiar with DAG principles for dependency management of functions and services.
  • Developing capabilities that chain diverse services together to complete a process.
  • Developing and deploying in a Continuous ATO security framework (DoD).
