About the position

ALTA IT is seeking an AWS Cloud Developer for a long-term contract position based in Washington DC, with remote work options and one day a week onsite. The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a Federal background check for Level 4 Public Trust Clearance. The developer will focus on AWS cloud application development, utilizing various technologies and methodologies to build and deploy cloud applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy cloud applications using AWS technologies.
• Lead database management, programming, cloud security/recovery, and cloud-centric integration efforts.
• Write and maintain Python code along with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK or Terraform.
• Model business processes in AWS Step Functions.
• Develop container-based applications utilizing REST APIs with Angular or React in TypeScript.
• Utilize AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for logging and auditing in a regulated environment.
• Perform remediation and unit testing of code during application development and user deployment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in AWS cloud application development.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Expert knowledge in cloud technology platforms, tools/services, DevOps, and database management.
• Hands-on experience with AWS development, including GovCloud.
• Proficiency in Python code development and workflow design using Airflow.
• Functional knowledge of Docker and AWS Lambda functions.
• Experience with designing Glue jobs using Python Shell and PySpark.
• Knowledge of database development and data migration, specifically with Postgres and Redshift.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AWS Step Functions and event triggering techniques like EventBridge.
• Understanding of logging in AWS and database/data lake granular access security.
• Experience in building/accessing Data Lakes using Glue/Athena/Redshift.
