About the position

ALTA IT is seeking an AWS Cloud Developer for a Long-Term Contract position based in Washington DC, with the flexibility of remote work and one day a week onsite. This role is critical in the development of cloud applications and requires a U.S. Citizenship due to federal government sector requirements. The candidate must be able to pass a federal background check for Level 4 Public Trust Clearance. The AWS Cloud Developer will be responsible for building and deploying cloud applications, utilizing their expertise in AWS cloud technology platforms, DevOps, and database management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing applications using Python for backend services and Angular or React for front-end development. They will also need to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of cloud tools and services, and be able to lead initiatives in database management, programming, cloud security, and cloud-centric integration. In this role, the developer will engage in remediation and unit testing of code as part of the application development and user deployment process. The position requires hands-on experience with AWS development, including the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CDK or Terraform, and experience in modeling business processes using AWS Step Functions. The candidate will also be expected to develop container-based applications and utilize AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for logging and auditing in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy cloud applications using AWS technologies.
  • Lead initiatives in database management, programming, cloud security, and cloud-centric integration.
  • Develop applications using Python for backend services and Angular or React for front-end development.
  • Engage in remediation and unit testing of code during application development and user deployment processes.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CDK or Terraform for deployment.
  • Model business processes using AWS Step Functions.
  • Develop container-based applications utilizing REST APIs.
  • Utilize AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for logging events and audit messages.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal government sector requirements.
  • Ability to pass a federal background check for Level 4 Public Trust Clearance.
  • Experience in AWS cloud application development.
  • Agile development experience.
  • Expert knowledge in cloud technology platforms, cloud tools/services, DevOps, and database management.
  • Experience writing Python code and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment.
  • Experience with AWS Step Functions and modeling business processes.
  • Hands-on AWS development experience is required.
  • Experience with database development and data migration (Postgres and Redshift).
  • Experience in building/accessing Data Lakes using Glue/Athena/Redshift.

Nice-to-haves

  • GovCloud development experience.
  • Experience with Python code development and workflow design using Airflow.
  • Functional knowledge of Docker.
  • Experience with writing AWS Lambda functions and layer management.
  • Experience designing Glue jobs using both Python Shell and PySpark.
  • Experience with SNS/SQL implementation techniques and event triggering.
