About the position

ALTA IT has a Long-Term Contract position open for an AWS Cloud Developer based in Washington, DC. This role is primarily remote, with the expectation of one day a week onsite. As part of the Federal Government sector, U.S. Citizenship is required, and candidates must be able to pass a Federal background check for Level 4 Public Trust Clearance. The AWS Cloud Developer will be responsible for developing cloud applications using AWS technologies, with a focus on both backend and frontend development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AWS cloud application development, Agile methodologies, and experience with Python for backend services, as well as Angular or React for frontend development. The position requires expert knowledge in cloud technology platforms, cloud tools/services, DevOps, and database management. The AWS Cloud Developer will lead various aspects of the development process, including database management, programming, cloud security/recovery, and cloud-centric integration. Candidates should have experience writing Python code and utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CDK or Terraform for deployment. Additionally, experience with AWS Step Functions for modeling business processes and developing container-based applications using REST APIs is essential. The role also involves utilizing AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for logging events and audit messages, particularly in a highly regulated environment. The candidate will be responsible for remediation and unit testing of code when issues arise during the application development and user deployment process. Responsibilities

  • Develop cloud applications using AWS technologies.
  • Lead database management, programming, cloud security/recovery, and cloud-centric integration.
  • Write Python code and utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deployment with AWS CDK or Terraform.
  • Model business processes using AWS Step Functions.
  • Develop container-based applications utilizing REST APIs with Angular or React in Typescript.
  • Utilize AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail for logging events and audit messages.
  • Perform remediation and unit testing of code during application development and user deployment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in AWS cloud application development.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Expert knowledge in cloud technology platforms, cloud tools/services, DevOps, and database management.
  • Hands-on AWS development experience is required.
  • Experience with Python scripting and designing Airflow workflows.
  • Familiarity with AWS CLI and navigating the AWS cloud environment.
  • Understanding of various encryptions and protocols, file transport security, authentication, SSL/TL certificates, and networking.
