About the position

The AWS Cloud Engineer/Solutions Architect role is focused on leveraging AWS cloud platforms and services to design, implement, and manage cloud solutions. This position requires extensive experience in cloud technologies, automation tools, and a strong understanding of networking and security best practices. The role is primarily remote, with the flexibility to work from the office in Dallas, TX when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud solutions using AWS services.
  • Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Automate deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Monitor cloud environments for performance and security issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cloud projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for cloud-related issues.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience working with AWS cloud platforms and services.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional (preferred).
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
  • Strong experience with Linux and Windows server administration.
  • Understanding of cloud networking concepts such as VPC, VPN, Direct Connect, and Route 53.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, AWS CodePipeline).
  • Familiarity with AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS GuardDuty, and security best practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with AWS database services like RDS, DynamoDB, or Aurora.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices for automating deployment, monitoring, and scaling of cloud services.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with iterative development processes.
