About the position

The AWS CloudOps Lead is responsible for managing and optimizing end-to-end cloud operations for a large-scale client. This role focuses on ensuring high-quality service delivery, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction by leading a cross-functional team of cloud engineers, architects, and support specialists. The position involves driving continuous improvement in cloud infrastructure, monitoring performance, enforcing compliance, and maintaining security and availability while overseeing changes and releases in the cloud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the cloud environment, including workload optimization and ensuring 24/7 availability.
  • Ensure successful and on-time delivery of cloud projects, aligning with client objectives, SLAs, and performance metrics.
  • Lead end-to-end lifecycle management of cloud solutions from design through ongoing support and improvement.
  • Implement and oversee a robust change management process to ensure minimal disruption to client services and adherence to SLA requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage all change requests, assessing risks, impacts, and dependencies to maintain system stability.
  • Develop and manage the release calendar for cloud services, coordinating with development, operations, and client teams for planned deployments.
  • Ensure all changes and releases are thoroughly tested, documented, and approved before deployment to production environments.
  • Monitor and report on change success rates, identifying areas for improvement in release frequency, quality, and velocity.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders, handling escalations, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer leadership, acting as a trusted advisor for their cloud strategies.
  • Conduct regular service review meetings and performance reporting.
  • Lead and mentor a team of cloud operations engineers, setting objectives, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Drive skill development within the team, promoting training on cloud technologies, security, and best practices.
  • Ensure the cloud infrastructure is resilient, secure, and optimized for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement cloud automation tools and processes to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects to refine system architecture based on client requirements and evolving industry best practices.
  • Drive continuous service improvement initiatives, leveraging metrics and feedback to optimize processes, tools, and standards.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Ensure adherence to all security, regulatory, and compliance requirements across the client's cloud operations.
  • Maintain best practices in cloud governance, cost management, and data protection.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in cloud operations management, particularly with AWS.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, change management, and release management processes.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of cloud automation tools and best practices in cloud governance.

Nice-to-haves
