The AWS Cloud Security Engineer position at Apex Systems involves performing ongoing cybersecurity risk reviews for both new and existing technologies and services. This role supports various cybersecurity projects, developing requirements for and implementing technical security projects and tools. The engineer will also define the company's cybersecurity policies and control framework, ensuring that security requirements are consistently met. Collaboration with the IT department and business units is essential to identify, select, and deploy technical controls that meet specific security requirements. The engineer will build processes and standards to maintain these security requirements over time. In day-to-day operations, the engineer will administer, operate, and monitor the company's information security sensors, logging, alerting, and other detection mechanisms to identify and respond to threats. Acting as a subject matter expert for multiple assigned cybersecurity network technologies, such as firewalls and network intrusion detection and prevention systems, the engineer will manage and maintain Cloud-Native Application Protection Platforms (CNAPP) and Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) platforms. Additionally, the engineer will oversee network firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), AWS security groups, and Network Access Control Lists (NACLs). Collaboration with the cybersecurity team is crucial for identifying, evaluating, and recommending new security technologies that are suitable for the company's environment and security posture. The engineer will communicate ongoing cybersecurity activities, priorities, and risk measurements or mitigations at various organizational levels. Furthermore, the engineer will provide guidance for security activities and requirements in the system development life cycle (SDLC) and application development efforts, participating in organizational projects as required. Other job-related duties may be assigned as necessary.
