About the position

The AWS Cloud Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures within an AWS environment. This role is crucial for ensuring the protection of sensitive data and systems while collaborating with various teams to enhance the overall security posture of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve security issues across cloud infrastructure, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and systems.
  • Build, deploy, and manage security tools and services to safeguard cloud environments.
  • Design and implement scalable processes for provisioning cloud access, ensuring efficient and secure user management.
  • Maintain a reliable, low-touch, and user-friendly cloud infrastructure that supports security and operational requirements.
  • Evaluate and respond to alerts and events from security tools, tuning configurations to reduce false positives and improve detection accuracy.
  • Develop comprehensive event response documentation and processes, including system environment diagrams and cloud operations security tools.
  • Work closely with leadership, architects, engineering teams, vendors, and compliance officers to execute and refine security strategies.
  • Consistently assess current cloud security measures and best practices, proposing improvements or solutions to enhance overall security posture.
  • Review cloud architecture and design from a security perspective, providing actionable and timely recommendations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working with cloud infrastructure, preferably within AWS.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for change management and automated security testing.
  • Proficiency in deploying and customizing security tools such as vulnerability scanners, static analyzers, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint security monitoring.
  • Experience developing software with object-oriented languages like Python, Java, C++, or Ruby.
  • Ability to write SQL queries and create dashboards and reports.
  • Extremely strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • NIST or ISO Certification is preferred.
