About the position

As a Data Engineer Streaming Specialist at Booz Allen, you will play a crucial role in organizing and analyzing big data to provide insights that impact significant missions, such as fraud detection and cancer research. You will be responsible for developing and deploying data pipelines and platforms that make disparate data meaningful, working within a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, agile environment. This position offers the opportunity to enhance your skills in analytical exploration and data examination while supporting the design, development, and maintenance of scalable platforms for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Implement data engineering activities on mission-driven projects.
  • Develop and deploy data pipelines and platforms for organizing data.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers.
  • Support the assessment, design, development, and maintenance of scalable platforms.
  • Monitor and optimize data streaming applications for performance, stability, and security.
  • Implement processes for failure recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery of streaming applications.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with programming languages, including C++, Java, or Python.
  • 2+ years of experience with messaging protocols, including RTMP, MQTT, and AMQP.
  • Experience with designing and developing highly scalable and fault-tolerant streaming data pipelines and applications.
  • Experience with collecting, transforming, and storing streams of data from various sources.
  • Experience with building batch data pipelines to complement real-time streaming pipelines.
  • Experience with monitoring and optimizing data streaming applications continuously.
  • Experience in working closely with software engineers, data scientists, and business teams.
  • TS/SCI clearance required.
  • HS diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience with Enterprise or Cloud IT.
  • Experience with AWS services, including Amazon Aurora, Amazon RedShift, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon Kinesis, and Amazon SQS.
  • Experience in building and deploying capabilities as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with AWS CDK and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of architectural implications of meeting industry standards, including ICD 503, NIST 800-53, and FEDRAMP.
  • Ability to lead effectively across organizations.
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • AWS Certifications, including AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional, AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, and AWS Certified Database.
