About the position

The AWS Dedicated Cloud Engineer position within Team Mercury at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. offers an exciting opportunity to engage with innovative cloud computing solutions while addressing some of the most complex technical challenges faced by U.S. Government agencies. This role is pivotal in supporting the U.S. Intelligence Community by building and operating large-scale distributed systems that are critical to national security and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will be passionate about engineering and operating the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure, contributing to a better future through technology. In this role, engineers will be tasked with ensuring operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations. A strong understanding of Linux, networking, and cloud services is essential. Engineers will be expected to think critically and creatively, simplifying complex problems while maintaining a focus on delivering the best possible experience for customers. Daily responsibilities may include investigating customer issues, analyzing performance metrics, and exploring innovative automation solutions to enhance operational processes. Team Mercury is responsible for supporting the AWS Commerce Platform, managing several hundred production services and pipelines. The team operates out of Denver, CO, and plays a significant role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of services that have a substantial impact on the Commerce Platform. Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph, as this role involves sensitive government work and requires adherence to strict security protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot complex system operations and ensure operational excellence.
  • Investigate customer issues and determine root causes of problems.
  • Analyze performance metrics and identify trends that require attention.
  • Automate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with team members to discuss innovative solutions and approaches.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or relevant certifications (Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
  • 3+ years of systems administration experience (Linux/Windows).
  • Experience with scripting languages.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years experience with cloud computing technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments.
  • Experience automating routine tasks.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Experience with performance and log analysis.
