About the position

The AWS Dedicated Cloud Engineer position within Team Mercury at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. offers an exciting opportunity to engage with innovative cloud computing solutions while addressing some of the most complex technical challenges faced by U.S. Government agencies. This role is pivotal in implementing and operating the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure, aimed at building a better future through advanced technology. The AWS Intelligence team is dedicated to supporting the U.S. Intelligence Community by developing and managing large-scale distributed systems that require adaptability and technical expertise. In this role, engineers will focus on operational excellence, troubleshooting complex system operations, and ensuring that customers receive the best possible experience. A typical day may involve deep dives to identify the root causes of customer issues, analyzing metrics that are trending negatively, or brainstorming innovative approaches to automate operational processes. The position requires a strong understanding of Linux, networking, and cloud services, as well as the ability to simplify complex problems into actionable solutions. Team Mercury, based in Denver, is responsible for supporting the AWS Commerce Platform, managing several hundred production services and pipelines. The work performed by this team has significant implications for the Commerce Platform, making it a critical component of AWS's operations. Candidates must possess a current TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and be willing to obtain additional clearances as required by the government agencies they support.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot complex system operations and ensure operational excellence.

  • Collaborate with team members to discuss innovative solutions and approaches.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or relevant certifications (Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
  • 3+ years of systems administration experience (Linux/Windows).
  • Experience with scripting languages.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience with support procedures for production environments.
  • Experience in automating routine tasks.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and performance analysis.
