About the position

The AWS Dedicated Cloud Engineer position within Team Mercury at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. offers an exciting opportunity to engage with innovative cloud computing solutions while addressing some of the most complex technical challenges faced by U.S. Government agencies. This role is pivotal in implementing and operating the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure, with a focus on building a better future through technology. The AWS Intelligence team is dedicated to supporting the U.S. Intelligence Community by developing and maintaining large-scale distributed systems that require adaptability and a strong technical foundation. In this role, engineers will be tasked with ensuring operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations. A solid understanding of Linux, networking, and cloud services is essential. Engineers will be expected to think critically and simplify solutions to complex problems, all while maintaining a high-quality experience for customers. A typical day may involve deep dives to identify the root cause of customer issues, analyzing metrics that are trending negatively, or brainstorming innovative approaches to automate operational processes. Team Mercury specifically supports the AWS Commerce Platform, managing several hundred production services and pipelines. The Denver-based team plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of these services, which have significant impacts on the Commerce Platform. Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph and be willing to obtain additional clearances as required by the government agencies they support.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot complex system operations and ensure operational excellence.
  • Analyze metrics and investigate issues affecting customer experience.
  • Automate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency.
  • Support several hundred production services and pipelines within the AWS Commerce Platform.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop innovative solutions to technical challenges.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or relevant certifications (Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
  • 3+ years of systems administration experience (Linux/Windows).
  • Experience with scripting languages.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years experience with cloud computing technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments.
  • Experience automating routine tasks.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Experience with performance and log analysis.
