About the position

As an AWS Dedicated Cloud Engineer on Team Mercury, you will have the opportunity to implement innovative cloud computing solutions and tackle some of the most complex technical challenges faced by U.S. Government agencies. This role is pivotal in helping these agencies leverage the latest cloud technologies to enhance their operations and solve critical problems. You will be part of a specialized group within AWS that focuses on the U.S. Intelligence Community, where we are building and managing some of the largest and most intricate distributed systems in the world. Your adaptability and problem-solving skills will be essential as you work to implement and operate these systems effectively. In this position, you will be expected to maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph, which is a requirement for working with various government agencies. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve operational excellence and troubleshooting complex system operations. You will need a solid understanding of Linux, networking, and general cloud services, as well as the ability to think critically and simplify solutions to complex issues. Ensuring a seamless experience for our customers is a top priority, and you will be expected to dive deep into customer issues, analyze metrics, and explore innovative approaches to automate operational processes. Team Mercury, based in Denver, supports the AWS Commerce Platform and is responsible for managing several hundred production services and pipelines. The work you do will have a significant impact on the Commerce Platform, and you will collaborate with a team of highly motivated engineers who share a commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot complex system operations and identify root causes of customer issues.
  • Investigate metrics and trends to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Automate operational processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Support AWS Commerce Platform services and pipelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to discuss innovative solutions and approaches.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or relevant certifications (Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
  • 3+ years of systems administration experience (Linux/Windows).
  • Experience with scripting languages.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years experience with cloud computing technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments.
  • Experience automating routine tasks.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Experience with performance and log analysis.
