About the position

PETADATA is currently seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join our team in Reston, VA. This hybrid position requires a candidate with over 10 years of experience in DevOps and Systems/Applications Support Engineering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the existing infrastructure and applications stack while automating processes to enhance overall efficiency. The role involves improving operational performance on existing platforms, managing upstream and downstream applications, and providing comprehensive hardware management and distributed systems support. The AWS DevOps Engineer will monitor and diagnose system health, ensuring that operations run smoothly to support application development and deliverables. Collaboration with development and project teams is essential to enhance systems and application processes, providing necessary support for day-to-day operations. Regular maintenance tasks will be performed, along with monitoring automated systems and reporting on application health. The engineer will work closely with Release & Change Management teams to address development, production releases, and hotfix issues, while also providing on-call support and delivering assigned tasks punctually. In this role, the engineer will develop and implement standardized, automated operational and quality control processes to ensure accurate data and timely reporting that meets Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The candidate should have experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting issues promptly, contributing to a robust and efficient operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the existing infrastructure and applications stack and automate processes to improve overall efficiency.
• Improve operational performance on existing platforms and provide end-to-end hardware management and distributed systems support.
• Monitor and diagnose system health, ensuring operations run without issues to support application development and deliverables.
• Collaborate with development and project teams to enhance systems and application processes, providing necessary support in day-to-day operations.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks and monitor automated systems and reporting on application health.
• Work with Release & Change Management teams on development, production releases, and hotfix issues.
• Provide on-call support and deliver assigned tasks on time.
• Develop and implement standardized, automated operational and quality control processes to ensure accurate data and timely reporting to meet SLAs.
• Conduct performance tuning and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience in DevOps & Systems/Applications Support Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in application (software & hardware) support and troubleshooting.
• 4+ years of experience in the Amazon Web Services Ecosystem (EC2, RDS, S3, Terraform, etc.).
• 4+ years of experience with Groovy, Bash/Shell/PowerShell.
• 4+ years of experience in Jenkins & GitHub/Gitlab.
• 4+ years of experience in JIRA/Confluence and Service Now/My Service Tools.
• Experience in designing and implementing entire software stacks that include application and system layers.
• Experience in providing necessary support and maintaining a 24x7 production support environment across multiple data centers and software/hardware infrastructure.
• Ability to perform periodical health checks and monitor management tools for a 24x7 support environment.
• Ability to work in an efficient operations environment and support various critical tasks in a large complex distributed system.
