About the position

SAIC is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to lead the AWS operations team responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the cloud infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role involves ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance of services while adhering to best practices in incident management, service request management, change management, and problem management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the AWS operations team in maintaining and operating the AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure 24/7 service availability.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the operation, maintenance, and support of the AWS cloud environment.
  • Collaborate with the security and other functional areas to align AWS operations with broader IT and organization objectives.
  • Monitor and manage cloud resources to optimize performance, cost, and scalability.
  • Drive the incident management process including troubleshooting, communicating, and post-mortem analysis.
  • Oversee the deployment of updates, patches, and new configuration in a manner that minimizes impact on services.
  • Establish and monitor AWS operational metrics and provide regular performance reports.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating new AWS features and services and integrate them into the existing cloud environment.
  • Manage and mentor the operations team, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Coordinate with vendors and external service providers for support and troubleshooting.
  • Adhere to and enforce compliance with industry and regulatory standards relevant to AWS cloud services.
  • Stay abreast of technology trends and developments in the AWS cloud operations.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and SRE principles.
  • Support the automation and continuous build/integration/deployment infrastructure for the AWS environment; write, build and deploy scripts.
  • Enable observability and resilience throughout cloud landing zones and Dev/Test/Prod environments.
  • Continuously assess, onboard, and enable new FedRAMP cloud services using security best practices for IAM and networking.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of DevSecOps practices and principles.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation for cloud environments.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a technical team.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory standards for cloud services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with FedRAMP cloud services.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for IAM and networking.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools for cloud environments.
