About the position

The AWS & NDT Inspector position at Bureau Veritas involves conducting inspections on structural steel fabrication projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural steel inspections for fabrication projects of varying sizes and complexities.
  • Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) using Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, including Chapter 17 of the NYC building code and QA/QC requirements.
  • Provide timely, detailed inspection reports.
  • Collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, and contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering or Architecture.
  • 3+ years' experience inspecting structural steel fabrication of varied size and complexity.
  • Familiarity with Chapter 17 of the NYC building code.
  • Familiarity with Structural Steel Fabrication Shop QA/QC requirements.
  • OSHA 30-hour safety training (preferred).
  • Currently holds a valid certification in SOME or ALL of the following: AWS Certified Welding Inspector, ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Inspector, ASNT SNT-TC-1A Certified Level II - NDT - Ultrasonic Testing, ASNT SNT-TC-1A Certified Level II - NDT - Magnetic Particle Testing, ASNT SNT-TC-1A Certified Level II - NDT - Liquid Penetrant Testing.

  • Familiarity with relevant construction industry codes and regulations.
