About the position

AWS is looking for a Network Deploy Technician to join our growing team within infrastructure operations. In this role, you will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network, ensuring that we can support several data center locations effectively. You will also be involved in day-to-day capacity management, working closely with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution as directed by Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers. As a Network Deploy Technician, you will leverage your experience supporting large-scale, enterprise-class networks, as well as your skills in network implementation and troubleshooting. This position requires you to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with regular peer and customer interaction. You will be responsible for providing management and support of AWS' vast network infrastructure, establishing and following best practices, and refining operational procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The role also includes physical requirements such as regularly lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds, participating in group lifts for heavier items, and working in environments that operate 24/7. You will need to be able to participate in primary responder rotation and provide after-hours support as needed. The job may require working in cramped, elevated, or noisy environments, and involves bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing, and walking for extended periods, as well as ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale the network.

  • Establish and follow best practices and refine operational procedures for network management.
  • Provide management and support of AWS' vast network infrastructure.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in technical or vocational roles such as Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, or Data Center Operations.
  • Experience with computer networking and LAN.
  • Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools and techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Data center experience.
  • Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment.
  • Experience with common tools related to network troubleshooting, including VFLs, OTDR, and power meters.
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, and Firewalls.
  • Knowledge of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and common Networking Protocols (BGP, OSPF).
