About the position

This role offers the unique opportunity to work with one of our Cloud Providers, AWS. As a strong technologist, you will support the sales team in deals, collaborating across partner and field teams to build and sell joint enterprise streaming solutions highlighting Confluent's unique features. You'll be a public advocate for AWS and Confluent, speaking at conferences, co-writing blogs, and much more! Successful Cloud Partner Solutions Engineers typically have backgrounds as developers, solution architects, technical account managers, or product specialists. However, they all share a passion for expanding Confluent's partner ecosystem and delivering the best of that world to our customers. In this role, you will serve as an AWS cloud SME for the Confluent field and a data streaming/processing SME for the AWS field, giving you significant visibility to tens of thousands of technical personas.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage relationships with technical account teams at the Cloud Partner.
  • Create and maintain a pool of Confluent technical champions at the Cloud Provider.
  • Educate and enable Cloud Partner architects on Confluent and Data in Motion architectures.
  • Create and drive the partner engagement plan for the account.
  • Work with Cloud Partner to build differentiated solutions and offerings that include Confluent Technology.
  • Provide architecture guidance and recommendations across solutions, offerings, and customer opportunities.
  • Aid account team with architecture reviews that maximize Confluent functionality and margins.
  • Leverage Partner programs to progress deals.
  • Author whitepapers, technical articles, and blog posts.
  • Understand the positioning of competing products and capabilities within the Cloud Partner.
  • Represent Confluent at select in-person conferences.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of Cloud Partner strategy, products, organizational and operating models.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting enterprise solutions for customers and partners on AWS.
  • Experience as a Technical Sales/Systems Engineer in a cloud environment or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience designing and building big data, stream processing, and other distributed systems for Fortune 1000 companies.
  • Experience with messaging, streaming, and ETL products commonly used in the enterprise.
  • Experience authoring, presenting, and delivering technical material.
  • Experience operating within and across cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, sales, marketing, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on identifying shared business value around complex software solutions.
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new and emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions.
  • At least two associate-level AWS certifications or one professional or specialty certification.
